RG: How would you characterize China's role in Myanmar's peace process?中国在缅甸和平进程中的角色有何特点？

刘蕴：As far as I'm concerned, China has been trying to fine-tune its role result-oriented, currently with emphasis on borderland security and peace. 我个人认为，中国一直采用“以结果为导向”的方式进行政策微调，目前强调的是边境安全与和平。

RG: How does it seek to exert influence? Both Beijing's role in the official Myanmar government led peace process and through ethnic armed groups that straddle the border? 中国怎样分别对缅甸政府和民地武施加影响？

刘蕴：Obviously China is fully embraced by the FPNCC, an UWSA-led ethnic alliance which has embarrassed the Myanmar government with its stubborn stance in the Peace Process. 非常明显，佤邦领导的联邦政治谈判协商委员会完全倚靠中国，不过他们的强硬立场让缅甸政府处于窘境。

RG: Has China's interest in Myanmar heightened since the NLD took power? (Due to One Belt One Road projects in Myanmar and decreasing interest in Myanmar from the West in light of Rakhine)民盟执政以后中国对缅甸的兴趣是否达到一个新的高度？（考虑到一带一路项目在缅甸的推进，而若开邦危机爆发之后西方对缅甸的影响日渐减少）

刘蕴：China's role in Myanmar's Peace Process is a miniature of its interests in Myanmar affairs as a whole. I do not buy the idea that China shall captalized on the decreasing interest from the West, the thorny issues in Myanmar could hurt both China and the West. 中国在缅甸和平进程中的作用就是其处理缅甸事务的一个缩影。我不同意下面这个观点，即中国可以好好利用西方在缅影响力减退这个机会。缅甸的棘手问题对中国和西方都会造成损害。

RG: How has China's changing economic position changed the way China interacts with ethnic armed groups? And with Myanmar government's official peace process?中国经济地位的改变如何影响民地武以及缅甸和平进程。

刘蕴：China's economic power has achieved a dominant position in the borderland where the ethnic armed groups(EAOs) have successfully built self-proclaimed states resisting Myanmar's rule. Theoretically China could easily flex its economic muscle to pressurize the EAOs, but it rarely happens. 中国的经济实力已经在民地武活动的边境地区占绝对主导。理论上中国可以轻易地动用经济手段向民地武施压，但是中国很少这么做。
